Cable pull

Cable lateral raise (cable at hip height)

Cable lateral raise from hip height for earlier tension.

Setup

  • Adjust cable machine to hip height, attach a single handle.

  • Stand sideways to the machine, grab the handle behind your back or at your hip with your outer hand.

  • Stand tall and stable, using your free hand to hold onto the machine.

  • Keep your working arm slightly bent and your shoulder blade stable.

  • Core tight, torso still.

Execution

  • Raise arm sideways to shoulder height. The angle of pull loads the shoulder early in the movement.

  • Elbow leads, neck relaxed, no momentum.

  • Hold briefly at the top, maximally contracting the lateral shoulder.

  • Lower slowly, maintaining tension throughout the movement.

  • Breathing: Exhale when lifting, inhale when lowering.
